About Me
I have gravitated towards leadership in varying forms since I was a teenager. Like many people do, I decided in my late 20’s that I wanted to start ‘managing people’. I was very career focused and saw this as the next natural progression for me. Fast forward to now, I have led many teams, in one role leading over 240 people spread across multiple locations round the South Island.
My leadership journey has been just that – a true journey. Years of learning, making mistakes, developing my style and improving my performance. There have been some personal challenges to navigate along the way, and some things I would have done differently now I have the benefit of hindsight. But these have all helped mould me into the leader I am today.
I have worked for some well-known New Zealand companies. Avis, Montana Wines, Cerebos Gregg’s and Foodstuffs South Island. Over the years I have led high performing, award winning teams. Values play a big part in my leadership, both my own and the organisation’s. I’m comfortable with my style but, it’s important to note, the leader I am today is different to the leader I was years ago.
In 2019 I decided to embark on another type of leadership path, being governance. In 2020 I won the Emerging Director Award for the Canterbury Branch of the Institute of Directors and I am now a Chartered Member of the IoD.
While building my career, I have been raising 3 boys with my husband, who has a successful career himself in the New Zealand Police. We have worked around the demands of that job, with shiftwork and the pressure of running serious investigations, as well as my roles which involved a lot of travel. I am no stranger to always running, making sacrifices and feeling guilty! That’s why I can relate to my audience members who are juggling a busy career and life in general.
